Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has a need for a contractor to
perform software engineering services. Specifically, the contractor
must convert the following software into a more user-friendly form by
developing a graphical user interface, preferably windows-based: the
Analysis of Fire Effects on Tank Cars (AFFTAC) software package, which
analyzes the effects of heat and fire impinging on a tank car that is
either full or empty, this analysis of which may be used as an option
in the thermal analysis of tank cars. Tasks to be performed include
the following: (1) Developing a graphical user interface (GUI) for
users of the AFFTAC software program and (2) Testing beta versions of
the program to prove the feasibility of the plan, as well as
subsequently debugging the program. Deliverables to be provided to the
FRA include: (1) Task Implementation Plan due 1 month after award of
purchase order, (2) Final report outline due 3 months after award, (3)
Presentation of task results along with Draft Final Report due 4
months after award; and (4) Final Report due 7 months after award.
