E-MAIL: Gloria J. Coffey, gloria.coffey@msfc.nasa.gov. The purpose of this amendment is to address questions received from an interested party on this solicitation. QUESTIONS ON ITEM # 1 ARE AS FOLLOWS: QUESTION 1: The 5 horsepower is oversized for the performance. A 5 horsepower, air cooled system will give off 50,000 BTU/Hr. and will heat up the area and will be very noisy. Can a smaller system or a cascade system be proposed? ANSWER 1: The horsepower of "1.5" is CORRECTLY stated on the synopsis. QUESTION 2: Is there any ambient noise level requirements? ANSWER 2: No requirements, however, a noise level of less than 82 dba (as measured 3 feet away from chamber at right angles) is specified for the Envirotronics SH27 unit, and is therefore desired. This question may be tied to the fact that they thought the compressor was 5 HP (is supposed to be 1.5 HP). We noticed that they did not ask about noise level for the smaller chamber. QUESTION 3: Most military specifications have for humidity testing such as MIL STD 810-883, maximum air velocity requirements. What MIL specs would be followed and are there velocity to be specified? ANSWER 3: We do not operate to a MIL spec and have no maximum air velocity requirements. QUESTION 4: One particular vendor states that he/she has advanced state of the art features for the windows so a manual wiper is no longer necessary. Would this be acceptable? ANSWER 4: The advanced features to keep the window clear of moisture are acceptable. QUESTION 5: There is no statement on the electrical wiring. Is NEMA1 satisfactory? ANSWER 5: NEMA1 is satisfactory. QUESTION 6: The warranty for this type of equipment should be one year on labor and two years on parts. We suggest a change. ANSWER 6: A longer warranty is better, but is not a requirement. Therefore, no change is necessary. QUESTION 7: The statements "Envirotronic system plus" and "Envirotronics temp sentry" are restrictive and should be removed to be fair. ANSWER 7: The restrictive statements can be removed. The revised applicable portions of the specifications are: "Dual channeldigital microprocessor programmer/controller with RS232C interface" and "digital high/low limit safety system with audible and visual alarms." QUESTION 8: Is any software required for the RS-232? One particular vendor has Windows compatible software. ANSWER 8: There are no specific software requirements. However, Windows compatible software is an advantage. QUESTIONS ON ITEM 2 ARE AS FOLLOWS: QUESTION 1: This specification calls for a Watlow programmer. The S3 has used a 922 series which has been discontinued. ANSWER 1: Remove the word Watlow from the specifications. The revised applicable portion of the specification is: "Dual channel programmer/controller with RS232C interface." QUESTION 2: Would a -100C temperature be acceptable? We don't believe there are any MIL specs for temperature from -10 to -230C with humidity testing? ANSWER 2: A -10 oC temperature is acceptable. Questions concerning this acquisition must be received in writing no later than COB April 22, 1999. As a result of this amendment, Quotations are due by COB April 29, 1999, to the address specified above. Posted 04/15/99 (D-SN320562). (0105)
