65 -- MEDICAL EQUIPMENT PURCHASE OF CTS ULTIMA ACTIVATOR DRIVE MECHANISM SOL RFP 600-027-99tld DUE 043099 POC Teri Deihl (562) 494-5828 (facsimile) The Network Business Center, VAMC West Los Angeles, intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract with Cardiac Thoracic Systems, Cupertino, CA under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. A justification for other than full and open competition is being prepared in support of this acquisition. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-04. Cardiac Thoracic Systems manufactures and distributes the CTS Ultima Activator Drive Mechanism that is required at the VAMC West Los Angeles. The CTS Ultima Activator Drive Mechanism is designed to provide ultimate access and stabilization for complete revascularization on a beating heart. The CTS Ultima Activator Drive Mechanism is superior in anastomotic stabilization and visualization, simplifies access to anterior, posterior and lateral vessels, there is increased savings with the multi-use drive mechanism and with the off-pump safety there is reduced morbidity. No other manufacturer, company or distributor is able to provide the CTS Ultima Activator Drive Mechanism. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit a proposal. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. All proposal received by 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, April 30, 1999 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
