POC Rex Ellington, Contract Specialist, (770) 488-2615 The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention wishes to purchase a stockpile
consisting of 4 million doses of trivalent oral polio vaccine, or
arrange to have access to such a supply. This vaccine will be available
for use in the event of an outbreak of polio in the United States. The
duration of the contract base period will be one year with options to
extend the contract for nine additional one year periods. A U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) approved vaccine is preferred. However,
in the event that such an FDA approved oral polio vaccine is not
available, or is cost prohibitive, vaccine which is able to be
administered under an Investigational New Drug (IND) application will
be considered. The stockpile or alternative arrangement must provide
for at least 100,000 doses of vaccine to be available within 3 days
from order placement. This portion of the vaccine shall be available in
appropriate filled and labeled vials with a minimum shelf life of at
least 2 months. An additional 400,000 doses of vaccine must be
available for shipment within 15 days from order placement. The
remaining 3.5 million doses must be available for shipment within 30-45
days of order placement. Solicitation Number 1999N00128 will be issued
o/a 5/18/99. Only written requests for the solicitation directly from
the requestor will be acceptable. Written requests may be sent by
facsimile to (770) 488-2670 and must reference the solicitation number.
