Financial Reporting Software DUE DATE: May 31, 1999 This is not a
solicitation; however, your response to this REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
(RFI) will demonstrate your interest in subsequent REQUEST FOR
PROPOSALS (RFPs). Responses to this RFI will be utilized to determine
recipients of future RFPs. TVA has established as its vision;
Generating prosperity in the valley, with corporate goals of; TVA
employees will set the standard for supplying low-cost reliable power,
supporting a thriving river system, and stimulating economic growth to
improve the quality of every life. We have determined that one very
effective way we can contribute to the accomplishment of this corporate
vision is to continually improve the systems which support our business
processes. Because of these corporate goals TVA is pursuing information
concerning improvements in our current corporate financial reporting
process. The system must integrate with existing related systems
currently in place. To assess and maximize our opportunities in this
area, the following business objectives have been identified: BUSINESS
OBJECTIVES: Deliver a year 2000 compliant system Improve the
efficiency and effectiveness of TVA's corporate reporting process
Automate the manual collection of data to spreadsheet (MS Excel)
processes Provide tools which allow the user to define standard
reports, produce ad-hoc reports and perform financial analysis. To make
the corporate financial reports easier to use (graphical user
interface) and more accessible to appropriate TVA personnel Integrate
the Corporate Financial Reporting System with TVA's general ledger and
other TVA systems across multiple platforms ( MVS, Unix, Desktop PCs,
etc.) Interface with TVA's existing MS Exchange email system Reduce
the necessity to key and store redundant information Provide 7 x 24
operational support Prevent disruptions to the operations of the
existing systems during implementation. Provide training on the
functionality, capabilities and operations of the system Provide tools
which allow for multiple reporting hierarchies PROJECT SCOPE: The
project scope itself includes the following functions: Development of
a Corporate Financial Reporting System Create a centralized data
Warehouse as a repository for financial and non-financial data Create
and post reports for access via the TVA Intranet and Internet Perform
ad_hoc analyses using historical financial reporting data Perform
calculations using financial and non-financial data Interfaces with
existing systems in a unix and MVS environment Training for system
functionality, capabilities and use Provide initial setup of security
and control features such as users, responsibilities, roles, etc.
Provide documentation, procedures and controls to maintain the Data
Warehouse and the new system Perform allocations for intercompany
transfers and distributions Provide data views to allow for drillback
capabilities Provide ability to link a note to values in reports Allow
for automatic generation and distribution via e-mail of a report
package Provide ability to display or download data to a file for use
with other software To assist you in participating in this process, we
have provided a series of questions. As you respond to these
questions, please identify your response with the corresponding
question number. (If there are questions we should be asking but are
not, we want to know that too, along with the answer.) Finally, it is
important that you treat this inquiry, and any information we furnish
relative to this matter, as confidential. We will likewise treat
