The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to issue a modification to an existing contract. In September 1995, DTRA established a Design Authority for its Supercontainer project by entering into a contractual agreement with the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE). One item designed under that contract is the Abnormal Event Beam. In the middle of production of the beam, one of the components became unavailable. This modification is to design and document the changes to the beam resulting from the unavailability of the specified steel beam. AWE is uniquely qualified to modify this design as the firm that designed the original beam. This is a sole source modification.
