U.S. Army Industrial Operations Command is seeking possible sources
and cost estimates for the complete rebuild of a Watervliet Arsenal
owned 1952 vintage Rockford Vertical Slotter. The model number of the
equipment is 02637SL and the corresponding serial number is 86-SL-21.
As a minimum, the machine rebuild will consist of rebuild/replacement
of the complete hydraulic system, chiller unit, lubrication system and
any ancillary equipment particular to the machine. The analytical
alignments and accuracy of the equipment will be equal to or better
than that furnished by the OEM for the year of manufacture. A brief
description of the equipment is as follows: Vertical Slotter,
hydraulic, 48" stroke, ram str. 36", str. adj. 6-36", vertical ram, HSG
adjustable 16" ram, tilt forward 0-10 degrees, 42" diameter table,
TTF-B 36" width 10', length 17', with cutting speeds 0-80 fpm. The
scope of work will also include three (3) complete copies of technical
documentation to support the as refurbished equipment within all
applicable trades. Also will be the requirement for three (3) days of
training of the applicable trades (operator, mechanical, and
electrical). Interested firms having the capabilities necessary to meet
or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit a written scope
of work with an estimated budgetary figure. A brief listing of
materials, brief description of your standard rebuilding procedures and
areas of rebuild/refurbishment is stongly encouraged. At a later date
you will be given an opportunity to visually inspect the equipment
prior to your final bid proposal. Please advise if the requirement is
considered a commercial or commercial-type product. Technical questions
