Air Force Research Laboratory, (AFRL/MLM ) solicits research proposals for the program entitled, "Flexible/Lean Launch Vehicle, Spacecraft, Payload Processes." The first objective of this program is to develop a methodology that applies the Lean Aerospace Initiative (LAI) Lean principles and practices to the risk management process of any space system development for the design phase and transition through the production environment. The LAI is an industry, university, government and labor partnership with the objective to promote Lean principles and practices within the defense aerospace industry. The second objective of the program is to develop LAI Lean design guidelines to promote and facilitate a means to implement into space system designs the application of Lean principles and practices required in a Lean flexible production/test environment.
