Air Force Research Laboratory, Air Vehicles Directorate (AFRL/VAK) solicits research proposals for the Active Weapons Bay Noise Suppression Program. High acoustic levels in open weapons bays cause fatigue. Present solutions are heavy, expensive and accomplished through "trial and error" design, which results in a limited flight envelope. The objective of the program is to design, develop, and demonstrate active flow control for noise reduction through more cost-effective designs that will be lighter and more adaptive with expanded weapon delivery envelopes and enhanced weapons separation.
