USDA, ARS, SAA intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Varian, to provide, install and startup technical support for open market components for a Saturn 2000 GC/MS. Line items include: 1. Chromatoprobe kit, 2. Column oven cryogenics, 3. Silchrom electrodes, 4. Multi-reagent C1 module for 3800 GC/MS, 5. Combi PAL autosampler with SPME, 6. Saturn GCMS, 7. 19" monitor, 8. JAZ drive, 9. PCI SCSI card, 10. Printer, 11. Parts and labor contract, 12. Ion gauge. Varian is the only known source for the open market components of this system. The Saturn 2000 GC/MS will be procured under FSS contract GS26F-4773A. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. It should be noted that no contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations will be held with Varian without further notice.
