COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 22,1999 PSA#2330A -- PROPOSALS FOR K-12 INTERNET EDUCATION ENHANCEMENT NASA's program
titled "Leading Educators to Applications, Research and NASA-related
Educational Resources in Science" (LEARNERS) intends to select a
portfolio of projects which collectively have the promise of enhancing
K-12 science, mathematics, technology and geography education through
infusion of information and knowledge generated by NASA's scientific
and engineering endeavors. The fundamental content of any NASA
education activity is the knowledge derived from NASA's missions. The
role of NASA's LEARNERS is to add value to K-12 education by
translating this content in ways supportive of NASA's missions. NASA
missions are defined by the four Strategic Enterprises: Aero-Space
Technology, Earth Science, Human Exploration and Development of Space,
and Space Science. The intent of this solicitation is the development
of science, mathematics, technology, and geography instructional
products that support K-12 curricula that are aligned with national
standards and are based on NASA's unique missions andresults. These
standards-based products are expected to facilitate the application of
technology, to enhance the educational process, to address the
development of innovative learning tools and strategies, and to empower
and support the educator. Teams supported under this CAN are expected
to rely heavily on the Internet and other technologies to communicate
and to develop their products. The Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN)
