Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plan to enter into a sole
source order with Teryl Frey, Ph.D., Georgia State University to
conduct the final year of a three year study of molecular testing of
rubella virus isolates collected from persons with rubella or infants
born with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) in the United States or
other rubella viral isolates from other countries, particularly in the
Western Hemisphere. The anticipated date of award of the sole source
order is June 7, 1999. Qualifications and experience essential to
performance of the work includes (1) extensive experience in nucleotide
sequencing of rubella; (2) laboratory facilities and equipment
necessary to perform the work; (3) an acceptable financial position and
past performance rating; (4) an organization of suitable size and
experience to accomplish the sequencing in a timely fashion; (5)
capacity and capability necessary to produce timely reports required on
