Federal Bureau of Prisons is modifying Contract JX00c-098, Middleton
McMillan/Schenkel Shultz Architects, to provide Architect/Engineer
Services for a period of twelve months to complete the construction of
the Federal Medical Center located near our existing institution in
Butner, North Carolina. Required services will be for architectural,
engineering and related services to include boundary and topographic
surveys; soil borings; geotechnical analysis of specific site or sites;
the development of design and construction documents for the proposed
facilities; and construction observation and administration services
during construction, including the possibility of at least one on-site
representative during construction. Design and construction documents
for some of these facilities will be developed from similar documents
developed for earlier FBOP facilities. The proposed facilities are
currently planned to include a medical center and hospital to provide
for approximately 500 medical and psychiatric inpatient beds; a medium
security institution designed to house approximately 850 inmates, and
a detention facility designed to house approximately 150 inmates;
other related buildings to provide support functions; and may include
additions and/or modifications to the existing Federal Medical Center
