COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 23,1999 PSA#2331

Department of the Treasury, DY, U.S. Customs Service, Procurement Division, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 4.2-E, Washington, DC 20229

D -- DB2 MIGRATION DUE 043099 POC Anthony Harvin, Contracting Officer, 202-927-1127 Notice of Intent: The U.S. Customs Service intends to contract with Independent Systems Integrators (ISI), Level 5, 53 Walker Street, North Sydney, New South Wales 2060 Australia, to perform Datacom to DB2 migration using their proprietary software, 2BDB2 Transparency Tool. The contractor will be required to perform a proof of concept (poc) feasibility pilot utilizing a database transparency approach. The 2BDB2 Transparency Tool generates a Datacom migration with little, if any, application program changes. The Datacom calls made by the application programs are processed as usual, except all access is redirected to DB2. All of this is done behind the scenes, and is completely transparent to the user. The poc should enable legacy OS/390 CA-Datacom COBOL applications to be migrated to a DB2 database environment without modification to COBOL source code. The poc should also enable CA-Dataquery programs to be converted to a DB2/QMF environment. Interested parties must reply within six (6) calendar days after publication of this notice. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis of intent will be issued. If no affirmative written responses are received which demonstrate that a comparable source is available or that is more advantageous to the Government, than an order will be placed with ISI. The period of performance is an estimated four (4) weeks. No solicitation document exists for this requirement. Email address is as follows: anthony.d.harvin@customs.treas.gov. Posted 04/21/99 (W-SN322544). (0111)
