Construction consists of mobilization and transportation of barges, equipment and materials to the island. Remove existing timber piles and trees located within the footprint of the new breakwater. Remove and relocate cannon mount base stones, large grill timbers, cut stones and slab walkway stones to designated locations on the island. Prepare existing river bottom surface. Provide and place underlay stones and armor stones over geotextile fabric to form a new breakwater. Provide Unexpected Ordinance (UXO) team for detecting and locating UXO. Install sound recording devices to monitor construction generated noise. Plant new trees to replace removed trees. Locate and report archaeological and historical artifacts found during construction, and relocate on the island as directed.
