commercial items in accordance with the format provided in FAR Part
12.6. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations
maybe faxed to Rena Cerbone at (617) 495-7485 or mailed to Smithsonian
Astrophysical Observatory (SAO), 60 Garden Street, M/S 22, Cambridge,
MA 02138-1516, Attn: Rena Cerbone, Reference: RFQ BF3385. The
Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory requires a quantity of six (6)
each Motorola P/N: MVME2700-3331 VME PowerPC Single Board Computer, 266
MHz, 32 MB RAM, MVEM761 style IO and six (6) each Motorola P/N:
MVME761-001 Transition Module for the MVME2700. SAO requires these
exact part numbers because of compatibility with existing Submillimeter
Array Project (SMA) computers and those used by SAO SMA Project
Partners. The SMA project will be controlled by a network of
twenty-four (24) diskless single board computers (SBC's). This includes
eight (8) SBC's in the eight SMA antennas, twelve (12) SBC's in the
twelve crates of the SMA correlator and four (4) SBC's performing
miscellaneous functions. These types of diskless computers are best
qualified to operate at the SMA's 13,500 foot elevation. Compatibility
is paramount to support software that has already been developed for
the SMA project. The provisions of FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to
Offerors -- Commercial Items, FAR 51.212-2, Evaluation -- Commercial
Items is applicable to this acquisition (available at the internet site
www.arnet.gov/far/). The Government will award a fixed-price purchase
order resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose
offer conforming to the solicitation will be most advantageous to the
Government, price and other factors considered. The following factors
will be used to evaluate: 1) Price and 2) Delivery. The following FAR
Clauses apply to this acquisition: 52.212-3, Offerors Representations
and Certifications -- Commercial Items; 52.212-4 Contract Terms and
Conditions -- Commercial Items; 52.212-5, Contract Terms and Conditions
Required to Implement Statutes or Executive Orders -- Commercial Items
including 52.203-6, Restrictions on Subcontractor Sales to the
Government, with Alternate I; 52.222-21, Prohibition of Segregated
Facilities; 52.222-26, Equal Opportunity; 52.222-35 Affirmative Action
for Disabled Veterans and Veterans of the Vietnam Era; 52.222-36,
Affirmative Action for Workers with Disabilities; and 52.222-37,
Employment Reports on Disabled Veterans and Veterans of the Vietnam
Era. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition
Procedures (SAP), SIC Code 3571, size std. 500. All responsible
