59 -- SOLE SOURCE: SHARK WATERPROOF HEADSETS DUE 060799 POC jbaldwin@natick-notes02.army.mil SOLE SOURCE: The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM) has a requirement to experiment with headsets under Hands Free Non-Line Of Sight (NLOS) Communications requirement for inclusion in the joint Army/Marine Corps -- Military Operations in Urban Terrain -- Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (MOUT ACTD). Headsets that met the Hands Free Non-Line Of Sight (NLOS) Communications, MOUT ACTD Requirement No. 3 (R3) as described at the MOUT ACTD Web Site: "http//:yorktown.dc.isx.com/mout/index.html" were experimented with and evaluated at Ft. Benning, GA at Army Experiment #3 in September 1998 and again in Army Experiment #5 in February 1999. Additional quantities of candidates that were selected as a result of this experiment are being purchased for 2 Joint Experiments occurring in July and September of this year and a Culminating Demonstration (CD) that will occur in the 4th Quarter of 2000 (July through September 2000). One of the selected candidates that we are planning to purchase is the Shark Waterproof Headsets by Source of Sound (Maaynei Hatslil Ltd), Israel. We are planning to purchase 217 headsets for the Joint Experiments and 691 headsets for the Culminating Demonstration.
