Abney, 202-708-6498, Dean Pike, Contract Specialist, 202-708-8569 The description of this procurement is modified to read as follows: The U.S. Department of Education seeks offerors to provide the National Center for Education Statistics(NCES) with additional analytic skills and capabilities to carry out its international program. Task Orders and quick-turnaround work requests will be issued under this contract to obtain this support as it is needed over the anticipated 5 year term of the contract. NCES participates in a wide variety of international activities including design and implementation of surveys, indicator development, research and analysis, quality assurance, data dissemination, and the development of policies and procedures governing these activities. In performing these activities, NCES works with large international organizations, foreign ministries of education, and statistical agencies around the world. Authority for this activity is found in the enabling legislation Section 406(b) of the General Education Provision Act, as amended (20 U.S.C. 1221-e-1). This procurement will take place as a full-and-open competition. The opening date for this procurement is on or about May 4, 1999 and the closing date is on or about June 3, 1999.
