This is a notice of intent to award under sole source provisions for the following: Privatization of the Government Owned natural gas distribution system at Ft. Detrick, MD which consists of only a small segment of the Installation's entire natural gas distribution system. Privatization will transfer to the private sector the responsibility for the ownership, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Government-owned utility system. The amount of piping that is currently owned by the Army represents only 10% of the total gas distribution system at Ft. Detrick. The other 90% of the system has been previously privatized and is owned by the Frederick Gas Co. The remaining system to be privatized includes a designated Army Family Housing (AFH) area located in the Ft. Detrick cantonment area. This portion of the system consists of 20,000 linear feet of pipe ranging in size from 6 to 8 inches in diameter.
