NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a maintenance agreement for parts and remedial maintenance, as necessary, for an Eaton Corporation NV-1002 Implanter. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC owns an Eaton NV-1002 Implanter, and intends to purchase the replacement parts and maintenance service from Eaton Corporation in Allentown, PA. This implanter is fundamental for the development and manufacturing of semiconductor devices. It is imperative that this equipment be maintained operational, with minimal down-time. This semiconductor tool uses many custom-made parts which must be calibrated and approved by Eaton Corporation. To maintain integrity and reliability of the system, replacement components and parts must be manufacturer-recommended. Eaton Corporation is the only source for technical assistance and custom-made parts, which are not offered on the open market. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
