UTILITY SYSTEM PRIVATIZATION INDUSTRY FORUM UTILITIES PRIVATIZATION -- INDUSTRY FORUM ANNOUNCEMENT The U.S. Department of Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest Division, will sponsor and conduct a forum for industry and utility providers to address issues relevant to the Department of Defense (DoD) Reform Initiative requiring the privatization of DoD owned utility systems. The primary systems to be privatized are electrical, natural gas, potable water, and wastewater systems. This announcement is designed to alert industry of this scheduled forum, and to invite early expression of interest in attending and/or participating as a guest speaker or panel participant in the forum, and to solicit industry input suggesting forum content. The forum will focus on privatizing the utility infrastructure systems at Naval Activities located in the Pacific Northwest region, and is scheduled for a full day on Wednesday, August 4, 1999. Major issues to be addressed include: -- Department of Defense Utility Privatization directives. -- Goals and objectives of Utility Privatization, including Competitive procedures -- Department of the Navy five phase Utility Privatization business plan and process. -- Overview of Naval Activities in the Pacific Northwest region, and the associated systems to be privatized. -- Various Guest Speaker topics yet to be determined. -- Key economic issues affecting privatization. Industry is invited and encouraged to express their ideas on the content of the forum. The expression of ideas will allow the Navy to tailor the agenda to maximize the benefits for both the Navy and industry. Guest speakers are also being solicited from industry.
