Nesvig 360 452 0320 or 0336 FAX E-MAIL: Kalaloch Water Pump Replacement, mark_nesvig@nps.gov. 1.The work under this project involves replacing four different water pumps in the Olympic National Park, Kalaloch Water Treatment Plant. 2.Four separate pumps are involved: (1) Two Domestic Water Pumps, (2) One Auxiliary pump, (3) One Backwash pump. 3.Replacement of the electric motors on these pumps is not included in this project. 4.Work under this contract consists of furnishing all labor, new materials and equipment required to provide, install and test the pumps and pumping systems as shown on the drawings. The existing pump house contains the pump's; originally purchased and installed in the water treatment plant in 1970 when the water system was constructed. The primary work scope involves the replacement of the existing discharge head, column, bowl assembly on four (4) vertical pumps. The existing pumping equipment will be removed and salvaged by the contractor at the contractor's expense. It will be the contractor's responsibility to supply new equipment to mate up to the existing discharge components. The existing motors will be reused. 5. Water service must be maintained at all times. The park will install a temporary bypass to pump water out of the underground tank. The Backwash pump shall be replaced first and cannot be out of service for no more than twenty-four (24) hours. The domestic pumps and auxiliary pump shall be out of service no longer that forty-eight (48) hours. The contractor must make provisions for hauling potable water if pump replacment is longer than specified above. 6. The removal of the existing pumps and installation of the new pumps will require the use of a hydraulic crane to be furnished by the contractor. The pump house has removable roof sections.
