COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 29,1999 PSA#2335FISC Norfolk Acq Group, Hampton Roads Detachment, 1968 Gilbert St.,
Suite 600, Norfolk, VA 23511-3392 35 -- INDUSTRIAL DUTY AIR CONDITIONERS 208V, 3 PHASE, 400 HZ DUE
050799 POC Jack Pendleton, 757 445-1444; Bill Shearer 757 443-1387 This
is a sources sought for manufacturers/distributors on non developmental
industrial duty air conditioners rated at 24,000 BTU with electrical
operating characteristics of 208 Volt, 3 phase, 400 HZ. The intent is
to identify sources that would be interested in providing commercially
available replacement air conditioner units with high reliability and
ease of maintenance, that could be modified for use aboard US Navy
Landing Craft Air Cusion (LCAC) boats. These boats operate on 400 HZ
power only, thus the electrical characteristics stated are critical.
The currently installed air conditioner is approximately 33 inches
wide, 30 inches deep and 20 inches high and held down with a bare
restraining device over the top, in addition to four bolts that secure
to the underside of the unit. It is physically mounted outside the
boat above the cabin. The air conditioner is exposed to extreme
operating conditions, especially severe salt spray, ultrviolet (UV)
rays, inclement weather, and ship vibration/impact. As such, the unit
must be rugged contruction, especially the frame, outer skin, and
component mounting, be of water tight integrity including sealed access
panels, and be coated with a paint, both internally and externally,
that will provide maximum protection against sale water corrosion, UV
damage, and normal wear and tear due to abrasion. The conditioned air
feed is to a duct system that marries to the outer frame of the
installed unit which will require slight modification to accomodate the
duct. Interested companies shouldcontact Mr. Jack Pendleton or Mr. Bill
Shearer at 757 445-1444 or 757 443-1387 respectfully. Facsimiles may be
sent to 757 444-4417. A response is requested not later than 7 May
1999. Posted 04/27/99 (W-SN324852). (0117) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0227 19990429\35-0003.SOL)
