This synopsis supplements and expands a previous Commerce Business Daily announcement on 15 December 1997 via Internet that detailed NAVICP-Mechanicsburg's intentions to establish a firm fixed price(FFP) Direct Vendor Delivery(DVD) contract for the Close-In-Weapon-System(CIWS) with Raytheon Missile Systems Corp(RMSC)-Tucson for the full range of NAVICP-M managed, CIWS unique, repair and replacement spares. Raytheon shall function as the Government's Commercial Stock Point for these spares in support of Navy and U.S. Coast Guard requirements as well as all Co-operative Log Foreign Military Sales customers including the performance of all routine inventory management functions including receiving, shipping, tracking, warehousing, reporting and scheduling. Non co-op log FMS customers will be covered under separate contractual actions or modifications to this DVD contract. RMSC will also be authorized to direct sell' Government owned inventory at negotiated selling prices for future credit to the Government. The overall goal is to improve the availability and reliability for the CIWS while simultaneously reducing overall support costs. Each installed CIWS shall be FFP'd per year for each of the base five years of the contract running to approximately July 2004. An additional three one-year options may be exercised.
