(INS) is researching user-friendly COTS (Commercial-Off-The-Shelf)
applications for personal property acountability and management. The
applications should include inventory management functions and account
for property acquisition, use, and disposal. The system should provide
inventory maintenance and repair records capabilities and should
automate property disposal transactions. The inventory database should
be able to receive data from procurement actions and financial
actions. For example, the system should be able to preserve or provide
information relating to purchase/delivery orders,
commitment/obligation documents, standard general ledger entries,
acquisition cost, and commodity and user identification. The system
should provide clear query reports quickly. It should be able to
produce customized forms for property accountability. the system should
be compatibile with bar-code reader/scanner technology. The system
should record items assigned to individuals and track the
case-processing for lost, stolen, or missing property. Please respond
