Contract Specialist, 301-594-8838 The National Institute of Diabetes
and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to negotiate with the
University of Minnesota Medical School to continue to develop the
pancreas and islet transplant database as a research tool. The
University of Minnesota, through the resources of the Department of
Surgery, began this database in 1980 and is in possession of propriety
scientific medical data necessary to expand and contain the database
on the outcome of pancreas and islet transplantation cases. The
database currently contains approximately 10,000 cases extending back
to 1966 and is expected to expand by 1000 cases per year. Determination
to use other than full and open competition was made in accordance with
41 U.S.C. 252 (c)(1) as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. See Note 22. Posted
