GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A) The design includes the furnishing, installation and connection of the fire alarm equipment to form a complete coordinated system ready for operation. It shall include, but not be limited, transmitters, recorders, control console, power supplies, conduit and wiring. B) The fire alarm systems shall comply with the requirements of NFPA 1221 for base loop systems (positive non-interfering successive type). The system shall have Type A equipment and circuits and meet the latest NFPA standards as well as all applicable Veterans Affairs construction standards and hospital guidelines. C) The systems shall receive incoming coded fire alarm from remote buildings and shall summon VA organized assistance from assigned non-endangered buildings, and from the station. The outgoing coded signal shall be designed to direct the assisting personnel to the endangered building, where a building annunciator will indicate the specific location of the fire. D) Design will incorporate all buildings (32) on the campus. This will be a phased construction project and shall be designed accordingly. Construction cost range $2,000,000 to $5,000,000.
