Sub Item No.1 is for mechanical in-stream and flood plain work. Sub Item No.2 is for seedling planting. Sub Item No. 1. This work consists of moving rocks, logs and rootwads for fish habitat improvement on the Barlow Ranger District of the Mt. Hood National Forest. Some excavation in the stream channel will be required to construct improvements. Work will be accomplished by using a Walking Backhoe/SPYDER (with four (4) independently hydraulic powered adjustable legs) with opposable thumb on bucket and cable winch. Access to work site may require cutting of vegetation and trees and may require the use of a chain saw. Recommended Contract Time for Sub Item No.1, is 380 hours. Sub Item No.2. This is to provide services for planting Government-furnished tree and shrub seedlings. Work areas may be reached by Forest roads that are accessible by standard two-wheel drive pickup equipped with snow tires and chains, if needed. Work areas that are not accessible by road will require foot travel. Thirty (30) acres shall be planted in Sub Item No.2. This Proposal will be available on or about May 21, 1999.
