Moore, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-2978 The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a sole source, firm-fixed-price, contract, for a base year with four, one-year options, with American Science & Engineering, Inc. (AS&E), 829 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821, to provide maintenance for 76 X-Ray Systems (one 101Z machine, five 101XL machines, and seventy 66Z machines). The contract will be awarded as a commercial item in accordance with FAR Part 12. A Department of Labor Wage Determination will be issued for this contract. Security clearances are required for all personnel. These x-ray systems are located throughout the continental United States. The contract shall consist of, but is not limited to: 1) labor, parts & materials (including x-ray tubes); 2) travel; 3) maintenance & repair; 4) keeping x-ray systems in safe & good operating condition; 5) conducting two preventative maintenance inspections & two radiation surveys each year; 6) ensuring x-ray systems comply fully w/ Government health& safety regulations; 7) providing response to all calls within 24 hours; and 8) when needed provide maintenance on Saturdays. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) is 7389 and the size standard is $5 million. Based on FBI market research, it has been determined that this is the only source to meet the FBI's requirement based on the fact that the backscatter technology is proprietary to AS&E.
