Anniston Army Depot is seeking sources for a company who can provide a
turn-key programmable logic controller (PLC) based controls upgrade
and positioning system upgrade to nine (9) Unit Load and Mini Load
Storage and Retrieval Machines (S/RM) at Anniston Army Depot. The S/RMs
were originally built and installed by HK Systems, Inc., formerly
Eaton-Kenway. The requirement includes engineering, manufacturing,
procurement of control hardware, software development, installation,
on-site startup, training and integrating testing of the system. The
vendor will be required to replace the existing encoder based
positioning system on the Mini Loads, and the read head/bar code
positioning system on the Unit Loads with SICK Optic Electronic model
DME3000, or equivalent, laser positioning devices for the horizontal
and vertical axes. The vendor will be required to replace the existing
microprocessor of all nine Unit Load and Mini Load S/RMs with an Allen
Bradley SLC-5/04, or equivalent, programmable logic controller. The
vendor will be responsible for software development and procurement of
all hardware necessary to provide control of each S/RM in each of
three axes: Aisle (Horizontal Axis), Hoist (Vertical Axis), and Shuttle
Axis. Interested companies are requested to furnish brochures,
literature, documentation, published price list, if available, and
references which cite past experience with
modernization/upgrades/retrofits to similar automatic storage and
retrieval systems not later than 15 days after synopsis appears in the
CBD. If information is in an electronic format, forward to Fran
Malinowski, malinowski@anad.army.mil. Information may also be faxed to
