NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD: SERVICE UPGRADE TO EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE AT DOE/OAK The Department of Energy, Oakland Operations Office (DOE/OAK) proposed to award to TDSI in acordance with the procedures outlined under the exceptions to full and open competition allowed under the Competition in Contracting Act of 1984. This will be a sole source acquisition to procure services to upgrade the current infrastructor and networking equipment to a higher standard for the Local Area Network (LAN). Description of Supplies and Services: The contractor/vendor will be required to provide all labor, tools, materials and parts necessary to install and test the New Fiber Optics backbone to the 1st,7th,8th,9th, and 10th floors. Other equipment to be included, but not limited to the purchase and installation of Innerduct for the Fiber Optic Cables, Media Converters,Rack Mountable Chassises for the Media Converters,light Interface Units, and Fiber Patch Cables and connectors. This project require upgrade and the wiring infrastructure and networking equipment from the current Cat 3 Copper backbone to Fiber Optics backbone to enhance LAN and to support 100mbt to the desktop. The site for services will be the U.S. Department of Energy/DOE (OAK) at 1301 Clay Stret, Oakland, CA. The Period of performance will commence on or about July 1, 1999 thru Agust 31, 1999. The Contractor must be available on call as-needed-basis. Anyone who can provide identical or equivalent services must respond within (15) working days from the date of this notice. Written responses must provide clear and concise documentation indicating why it is more advantageous to the Government to consider other than the contemplated action.
