The United States Postal Service is seeking sources for a Semi-Automatic Scan Where You Band (SASWYB) system for the express purpose of scheduling mail reservations on commercial airlines. Systems will be located in Airport Mail Facilities, Airport Mail Centers, and Processing & Distribution Centers and will need to have the ability to scan, weigh, make flight reservations and print a label that will be attached to individual trays, tubs, sacks and outsides by an operator. Only companies that have installed equipment that performs the above mentioned tasks for the USPS and/or for other companies shall be considered for this competition. Additionally, as a reference only, a Technical Data Package (TDP) and systems control software for the system will be provided. A functional prototype system is also available for observation only, at a Postal facility. This TDP, system control software, and prototype are for reference only, and, subsequently all design responsibilities will rest with the contractor. A production contract will be awarded to the contractor of the system that brings the most value to the USPS based on the evaluation of the technical and cost proposals. There will be a possible order of one hundred (100) such systems upon contract award. Copies of the SASWYB statement of work will be available for review to interested parties.
