COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 7,1999 PSA#2341NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT FOR LAND APPRAISAL
SERVICES ALONG THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND Under the
authority of FAR 6.302-1, the National Park Service (NPS) intends to
enter into a non-competitive contract to purchase appraisal services
for the Appalachian Trail Land Acquisition Field Office (ATLAFO). The
ATLAFO is responsible for the acquisition of the land rights required
for the Appalachian Trail and for the acquisition of land for the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (C&O Canal).
Programming costs for this requirement by any other contractor would
jeopardize the continuity of services already provided. Therefore, IAW
authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented in FAR 6.302-1, the
Government intends to enter into negotiations on a non-competitive
basis with Mr. Richard L. Bowers within 30 days after the publication
of this notice. However, all information received by this agency shall
be considered. A determination not to open the requirement to
competition based on responses received to this notice is solely within
the discretion of the agency. This synopsismay represent the only
