COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 10,1999 PSA#2342HEALTH SERVICES INDUSTSRIES, PROPOSED INCREASES TO SMALL BUSINESS SIZE
STANDARDS BY SBA The Small Business Administration (SBA) has proposed
to increase the size standards for eleven of the nineteen industries
under Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Major Group 80, Health
Services. The entire text of the Proposed Rule with the justification
for proposing the new size standards is in the Federal Register of May
4, 1999, (64 FR 23799). The Proposed Rule can be found on SBA's web
site at http://www.sba.gov/library/lawroom.html. The current size
standard for all health services industries is $5 million in average
annual receipts. Depending on the industry, the proposed size standards
are $7.5 million, $10 million, or $25 million. SBA has proposed these
revisions to better define the size of business in those industries
that SBA believes should be eligible for Federal small business
assistance programs. Comments on the Proposed Rule are due to SBA by
July 6, 1999. WEB: SBA Online Library and Reading Room,
