POC Alexis Kemper (202-482-1512) NATO has a potential requirement to
improve NATO MEWSG's Airborne Electronic Warfare Jamming Pods. The UK
has been nominated as the Host Nation for this project, which will be
managed by the Procuremet Executive of the UK Ministry of Defense. The
Airborne Pod Improvement Program is planned to start in 2000 and be
completed by 2003. The following is a description of the improvements:
(1) C/D Band Pods-Quantity 7: There is a requirement for provision of
digital control facility to enable adjustment from a laptop computer
of the jamming capability in the D band using Digital Radio Frequency
Memory techniques. (2) G/I/I Band Pods-Quantity 8: There is a need to
improve the jamming capability in the G band using Digital Radio
Frequency Memory techniques. (3) High I Band Quantity 2: There is a
requirement to improve the jamming capability in the I band using
Digital Radio Frequency Memory techniques. In addition, there is a need
to replace the Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers in these pods. (4)
Safety Study: There is a requirement to comply with current safety
regulations. This will necessitate a safety study to be carried out for
the complete systems of the improved pods taking into account existing
and modified equipment. The bidders will require security clearance up
to and including NATO Secret. All applicants must be certified to
compete in NATO ICB by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of
