J -- REPLACE SPRINKLER SYSTEM HEADS SOL 631-10-99 DUE 062999 POC Douglas Brown The VA Medical Center, 421 North Main Street, Leed, MA is seeking the services of a contractor to replace the existing Central Sprinkler Omega Heads in buildings No. 1,6,7,8,9,12 & 26. The sprinkler heads in Buildings No. 1,7, & 9 are to be replaced with Vulcan break away type heads. The heads in Buildings 6,8,12 & 26 will be replaced with glass bulb type heads. All work is to be done within occupied buildings. Disruption and dust must be kept to an absolute minimum. Contractor will have to maintain a fire watch in buildings in which heads are being replaced whenever the sprinkler system is shut down for more than 4 hours. Sprinkler system must be put back in operation at the end of each workday. Contractor must have demonstrated ability to perform this type of work in occupied buildings by having done at least 3 similar type jobs in the last 2 years.
