33174 EXHIBITION MANAGER/TOUR COORDINATOR The Hemispheric Center for
Environmental Technology (HCET) at Florida International University
(FIU) is seeking a qualified supplier to produce and implement a trade
show/exhibition for an International Decommissioning Symposium to be
held in Knoxville, Tennessee in June 2000. The supplier will also be
responsible for arranging tours of the Department of Energy Oak Ridge
Reservation. The tour portion will include making arrangements with the
sites, coordinating registration with the conference registrar and
covering transportation fees to and from the site. The trade show
portion of the symposium should consist of 70 to 100 exhibits from
Industry, Government, and Academia, both from domestic and
international entities. A specified number of exhibits will be
available to DOE at no charge. The supplier will be responsible for
marketing and publicity efforts to encourage attendance and to
accommodate exhibitor registrations. The supplier will cover the space
rental fees, marketing and publicity costs, and several of the catered
functions including an exhibitor reception and exhibit hall coffee
breaks (5). The total expected attendance of the symposium is in the
800-1000 attendee range. The supplier will also coordinate with the
exhibit drayage/decorating vendor and cover any fees not paid for by
the exhibitor. Each exhibitor should receive a skirted table, a
wastebasket, and two chairs complimentary with exhibitor registration
fees. Exhibitors should be charged a reasonable amount for space based
on size of area needed. The supplier will provide progress reports on
a monthly basis the to Hemispheric Center for Environmental Technology
and will also be responsible for participating in weekly steering
committee conference calls and up to 6 steering committee planning
meetings. Qualified candidates should have sufficient experience in
planning government funded conferences, including exhibits. Interested
candidates should provide a letter of qualification stating how they
meet the minimum requirements including: address, contact person,
telephone, and fax numbers to Ms. Elaine Elder, Hemispheric Center for
Environmental Technology, Florida International University, 10555 West
Flagler Street, Suite 2100, Miami, Florida 33174, no later than
5/22/99. The letter of qualification will be used to pre-qualify
prospective companies. The request for proposal (RFP) will be available
for the qualified firms approximately 6/14/99. Selection Criteria:
Exhibit Coordinator/Tour Manager for D&D 2000  Previous
conference planning experience of 3 major government related events.
 Financial reserves to cover up-front costs associated with
exhibit planning and special events.  Extensive mailing and
marketing lists of DOE related contacts (Industry Representatives,
Academia, and International).  Ample staffing resources to
execute marketing and planning functions related to this task. 
Familiarity with security, protocol, and other issues related to
