The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division intends to competitively award a contract for 1) the design, development, manufacture, and verification of a "480 Gallon" external fuel tank (EFT) which is compatible with the operational, functional, and configuration requirements of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft (including carrier deck fuel fire and fragment impact survivability), 2) the acquisition of a product technical data package for this tank along with Government-purpose data rights, and 3) four production year options. The basic contract is for approximately ten "480 Gallon" external fuel tanks with option year quantities to be delivered at a rate of approximately eighteen a month with a total to be commensurate with the requirements of the F/A-18E/F production program. A draft Request for Proposal (RFP) will be available for industry comment on or around 17 May 1999 and the formal RFP will be available on or about 01 June 1999. Certain referenced drawings and specifications that form an integral part of the formal RFP are only available in hard copy. These drawings and specifications will not be made available by the Government until the release of the formal RFP. Capable interested companies who desire to be placed on the distribution list for the formal RFP and/or the drawings and specifications package shall provide their mailing address in writing to Ms. Daugherty via facsimile, mail, or e-mail in accordance with the instructions above. Companies shall indicate in this request their preference for receiving a hard copy of the formal RFP, the drawings and specifications package, or both. Interested companies shall be responsible for confirming receipt and correctness of addresses submitted with Ms. Daugherty by calling 301-757-6528. Industry comments on the draft RFP are requested on or before 5:00 EST on 27 May 1999. The closing date for receipt of proposals will be explicit in the formal RFP.
