45 -- NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH KC MEDIWASTE CO. SOL 69D-288-99 DUE 060199 POC Diane Brazale, Contracting Officer, (414) 902-5403 The Great Lakes Acquisition intends on negotiating a sole source contract with KC Mediwaste Co., L.C. of 4219 University Blvd. Dallas, TX 75205 for the purchase and installation of a Medical Waste Disinfection/Sterilization Treatment System for the VA Hospital, Hines IL. This System must be able to sterilize 200-300 pounds of waste per hour and must include the following: Torbed Fluidized Bed Hot Air Treatment Chamber; cart lifter/dumper; holding vessels for input and discharge waste materials; Hepa Filtration Systems on all exhaust ports and vents; and structural supports and access scaffolding as required. The system must also include a Komar QR-244-30 or equivalent single step four-shaft shredder, which will allow for both red bag waste and sharps to be processed at the same time. To the best of the Government's knowledge, KC Mediwaste is the only source, which can provide this system with the Torbed Treatment Chamber. Requests for a hard copy of the solicitation must be in writing to the Contracting Officer and accompanied by a non-refundable check for $5.00 made out to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
