This is a notice of our intent to prequalify General Contractors for repair and alterations at Postal Facilities in various locations in the Suncoast District. Locations and exact numbers have not yet been determined. Primary factors will be considered are: construction experience, financial stability, and capacity. Applications will be evaluated by the USPS committee, and all General Contractor's will be advised within 60 days of receipt of their application as to prequalifications status. General Contractor's selected as being the most qualified will be placed on the prequalification list. The prequalified list will be established for 24-months beginning on the day following the day the list is established. At the end of one year, the Postal Service will consider evaluating additional firms for prequalification. The projects will typically involve interior renovations work with only minor modifications, if any, to the building exterior and parking areas. Exterior and interior signage installation is included. The construction will require close coordination with the postal facility which may be occupied and operational. Coordination will also be required with the USPS Facilities Service Office and other USPS representatives. The construction contractor must provide all labor, material, equipment, services, permits, taxes and insurance necessary to complete the work as well as phasing their operation to minimize disruptions to postal operations. The typical trades involved are: drywall, flooring, ceiling, carpentry, finishes, electrical, security, mechanical and fire protections. Modifications to existing piping, equipment, devices and services are anticipated. The contractor may also coordinate, order, receive and install certain USPS furnished materials and equipments. COST RANGE: The anticipated construction cost for an individual project is expected to range from $100,000 to $1,000,000 per location.
