published in the CBD on May 5, 1999, is to provide clarifications and
answers to questions regarding the Smoke Detectors/Alarms. The
original announcement which appeared in the CBD on May 5, 1999, was a
combined synopsis/solicitation. All information pertaining to the
detectors/alarms that will enable offerors to submit quotes was
contained in that announcement, therefore, no written solicitation will
be issued for this requirement. Questions and clarifications relating
to these units are as follows. The units are self-contained wireless
battery operated units. They require no monitoring by other equipment
or systems. Line Item 1), the non lithium battery unit, operates on a
standard 9 volt battery. The units offered must have a UL Listing only,
no rating beyond the listing is required. The date for submission of
offers of May 21, 1999, by 3:00 P.M. EST remains unchanged. Successful
offeror(s) responding to this requirement will be issued a
firm-fixed-price order. The (30) day mandatory delivery date of all
