E-MAIL: Carrie L. Ash, carrie.l.ash1@jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the Genesis Disocvery mission amorphous vit 101 collector tiles. A firm-fixed-price purchase order will be placed for the manufacture of 20 Vit 101 collector plates including 16 half-hexagon collector tiles and 4 Vit 101 collector tiles. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech)under a Justification For Other Than Full And Open Competition pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). CalTech is the only source with the capability of creating the precise composition Ti, Zr, Cu, Ni alloy, of the appropriate amorphous structure and of the required thinness and shape. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
