Operations Command (IOC), Rock Island, IL is seeking possible sources
for a potential Department of the Army contract to rebuild a 1962
vintage "Masterline" CTR Boring & Turning, Hollow Spindle, Cam Type
Tracer Lathe for Watervliet Arsenal, Watervliet, New York. This a
sources sought notice only, this is not a Request for Proposal. This
synopsis is for information purposes only, and is not to be construed
as a commitment by the Government to award a contract on the basis of
this request for information or to pay for the information solicited.
A brief description of the equipment is as follows: The model number of
the Lathe is #4-L and the corresponding serial number is #3412X3. The
lathe is a four station turret carriage type, hydraulic cam tracer,
cross slide swing over bed 30", swing over bed 31 3/8", length 30'
O/C/S/ 24-1/2" over/carriage, wings 28 1/2", spindle 12 1/2" I.D. width
9', manual type. Additional features include two in-line four jaw
chucks, one Jorgenson chip conveyor, a 10' outboard detached bed on the
left end of the headstock, which incorporates a 3 jaw manual travel
roller bearing steady rest, machine spindle speeds 7-395 RPM. The
hydraulic unit is further defined as: True-Trace Hydraulic Power Unit,
Serial #1816, Model #PS22-14, Series #5PF6.2.45 TC. As a minimum, the
machine rebuild will consist of rebuild/replacement of the complete
headstock system, lead/feed screws, lubrication system, hydraulic
system, and any ancillary equipment particular to the equipment. The
analytical alignments and accuracy of the equipment will be equal to or
better than that furnished by the OEM for the year of manufacture. The
scope of work will also include three complete copies of technical
documentation to support the as refurbished equipment within all the
applicable trades (operator, mechanical, and electrical). Vendors
having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated
requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation,
experience, literature, and references along with a point of contact,
address and phone number. A solicitation does not exist at this point,
therefore, do not request a solicitation. Please include a brief
listing of materials, brief description of your standard rebuilding
procedures, and areas of rebuild/refurbishment. At a later date, you
will be given the opportunity to visually inspect the equipment prior
to your final bid proposal. Your response shall be submitted to
Headquarters, Industrial Operations Command, ATTN: AMSIO-ACI-P/Helen
