in the original notice is incorrect. DESIGN OF INTERPRETIVE SPACES AND
EXHIBITS The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking interpretive
design services for exhibits, information desks, and a sales area for
a new visitor center in Coldfoot, Alaska, approximately 250 miles north
of Fairbanks. These interpretive spaces are expected to be
approximately 3,000 square feet. The interpretive design will coincide
with the facility design which is already under contract with the BLM.
The interpretive designer will work with the facility designer to
coordinate the interpretive components into the building design. The
final products will be: 1) Interpretive Space Requirements Construction
Package: A Construction package which includes drawings and
specifications of Interpretive Spaces for the A&E Facility Design
Contractor to incorporate into the facility design. This includes audio
visual equipment recommendations and specifications and drawings
necessary to design the theater. 2) Exhibits Construction Package: A
Construction package which includes all exhibits and all components for
the Lobby and Sales Area, and informational signs (interior and
exterior). This document will be used as a statement of work to
contract the fabrication and installation of the exhibits and other
interpretive components. 3) Film Prospectus: A document which presents
a complete overview of the proposed film and documents it's
relationship to the other interpretive media. 4) Audio Visual equipment
specifications: a document which presents audio visual equipment
recommendations, specifications, and cost estimates to develop a
separate contract to obtain and install the theater audio visual
equipment. All exhibit design work shall be performed by a professional
interpretive exhibit designer. The BLM will provide guidelines in the
form of the Coldfoot Visitor Center Interpretive Plan which identifies
the themes and sub-themes for the exhibits, as well as through
on-going contact with the contractor during the design process. BLM
will make slide libraries and natural and cultural resource expertise
available for use in the exhibit design. Evaluation criteria in
descending order of importance are: 1) Qualifications and experience of
key personnel in the areas of creative and technical expertise
required, including subcontractors to be used on this project. 2)
Examples and descriptions of innovative approaches to natural resource
interpretation, design, models, illustrations, graphics, and
mixed-media audio-visual productions of past projects similar in scope
to this project. 3) Project management experience of the personnel to
be used on this project within the last five years. Past record of
performance with repect to control of costs, quality of work, and
compliance with schedule with projects of this type and size. 4)
References for at least five previous clients from the past ten years.
Two of the references should be for design-only projects which were
later fabricated by another firm. Include the name of contacts for the
fabrication firm as well as the client. All interested firms are
invited to submit a letter of interest and a completed Standard Form
254/255. Responses must be received before 4:00 PM, Pacific Daylight
