Z -- REPLACEMENT OF WATER LINE AT JEWEL CAVE NATIONAL MONUMENT SOL COMM 1505-9-0021 DUE 061199 POC RON EILEFSON, 605-574-3130, FX:605-574-2307, EMAIL:Ron_Eilefson@nps.gov Project consists of: excavating a 2" galvanized water line and replace with new 2" PVC water line from well house to the reservoir. All work and materials are deemed to be available in the commercial market place. Proposals will be evaluated on contractor experience, past performance and price. Contract will be awarded on a Best Value basis as a Commercial Item Procurement. Work will be performed at Jewel Cave National Monument, Custer, South Dakota. Plumb the new water line directly into the reservoir and the well house reservoir. On this line, install a check valve and shutoff valve in the well house manhole. From the reservoir, run a new 4" PVC water line in the same ditch back to the well house manhole and tie it into the existing 4" PVC water line that goes to the historic area. Install a shutoff valve on this line at the reservoir. Bed the lines in imported crusher fine fill material. These lines are to be installed below the frost line for this area. In the same ditch, also install new control wires from the reservoir float controls to the well house controls and make proper connections to these controls. Water lines and controls are to be marked with appropriate metallic marking tape. A temporary 2" surface water line needs to be installed to provide water to the park during the time of construction. All lines need to be properly sanitized prior to placing into service. Contractor will have 90 days to complete the project. The anticipated award date is 6/28/99. This construction project is valued at between $25,000 and $100,000. The SIC Code is:1623.
