A -- NON-GPS MAN-CARRIED NAVIGATION SYSTEM POTENTIAL SOURCES DUE 061899 POC Mr. Leo J. Sydlik Jr. Contract Specialist 410-278-2977 FAX 410-278-2980/2077 The Research Development Acquisition and Contracting Office located at Aberdeen Proving Ground Maryland is seeking to identify potential sources who can provide information on technology developments concerning a system which can navigate in environments where Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are unavailable. The system must be a Man-carried navigation system which is curently available, or available within one year. The system must be non-GPS. The system should use a combination of intertial and speed sensors. The system cannot use mechnical means to measure, e.g measuring wheels. The total volume including batteriews shall be less than 800 cubic inches (100 cubic inches is desired) The system shall be able to operate in total darkness. The system shall also be able to continuously navigate over a period of six hours for a total distance traveled which is two to four miles while achieving a horizontal accuracy of less than 50 feet 95% of the time. Interested firms may communicate their interest in writing to the Contract Specialist. The communication must fully document the firm's current capability to respond to a requirement of this type, including specifications of their product lines, pictures, drawings, and any other commercial/marketing material which is available. This is not a request for proposal. No solicitation exists; however, all responses within 30 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be reviewed by the Government to determine what firms in the marketplace have this capability.
