The work of this project consists of dredging the Federal Channel from deep water in Broad Sound into the Saugus River to a point upstream of the Western Avenue Bridge. Two anchorages will also be dredged. Approximately 90,000 cubic yards of material will be removed, using a hydraulic dredge, and placed in a 13 acre, diked disposal cell to be constructed on the RESCO landfill located about 3,500 feet from the river. The maximum distance to which material will have to be transported hydraulically will not exceed 3.5 miles. A four acre mitigation area will be constructed at the I-95 embankment to create an intetidal habitat. The estimated cost of the work is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 180 calendar days after receipt of a notice to proceed. Solicitation shall be available on or about 6/7/99.
