Cambridge, MA 02138-1516 99 -- EQUIPMENT ENCLOSURE WITH SELF-CONTAINED SOLAR POWER SYSTEM SOL
RFQ-BF3500 DUE 061699 POC POC: EJ Dotts, 617-496-7562,
edotts@cfa.harvard.edu/Contracting Officer: Priscilla O. Waltner,
617-495-7401, pwaltner@cfa.harvard.edu The Smithsonian Astrophysical
Observatory (SAO)requires the fabrication and delivery of one Equipment
Enclosure with Self-Contained Solar Power System. SAO is currently
expanding a test program to determine the quality of the atmosphere for
high frequency radio astronomical observations. Since observations of
this kind are made from remote high-altitude locations, there is a need
to provide electrical power and shelter for the atmospheric monitoring
equipment. DC electrical power, at 24 V, is to be derived from a solar
power system with maximum output of 2.4kW, an inverter will be provided
for 110 V AC output. Electrical energy will be stored in a series of 2
V flooded cells, which will offer an autonomy of 2,500 Ahr with no
sun. The equipment shelter will be based on a standard ISO shipping
container (20'long x 8'wide x 8.5'high) constructed from rigid welded
galvanized steel (14 gauge), suitably insulated and modified for field
operation. Offers will be evaluated on price, technical proposal,
delivery schedule, and past performance. Anticipated award date is 16
June 1999. The order is to be delivered FOB Destination to SAO's
Westford, MA site. The desired delivery date is six weeks ARO. Only
written, fax, or email requests received directly from the requester
are acceptable. All responsible sources may submit an offer. No
telephone requests for the solicitation will be accepted. This
acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified
Acquisition Procedures. Posted 05/18/99 (I-SN332812). (0138) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0358 19990520\99-0004.SOL)
