The Portland VA Medical Center (PVAMC) located at 3710 SW U.S. Veterans Hospital Road, Portland, Oregon, wishes to award firm fixed price indefinite quantity contracts for the services of critical care ACLS certified registered nurses, medical/surgical BLS certified nurses, and licensed practical nurses to provide back-up coverage. Nursing support is needed on an intermittent (shift) basis when the medical center experiences peaks in workload. The greatest consistent need for this support is in the Intensive Care Units of the Inpatient Services Division. On occasion continuous coverage may be purchased to cover a need during the recruitment process of PVAMC staff or as a result of an unplanned absence. Contract Nurses must have current valid and unencumbered license in a State, Territory of Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. Critical care and medical/surgical nurses must have a minimum of two years current experience in the area of assignment, e.g., Intensive Care Unit, PostAnesthesia Care Unit. Licensed Practical Nurse must have one-year experience in medical/surgical. Critical care nurse must have a current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Medical/surgical nurse must have a current certification in Basic Life Support. The PVAMC currently has three contract sources providing back-up nursing services. The PVAMC's intention is to add no more than two additional contract sources to assure availability of nursing staff. Evaluation criteria are described in the solicitation. It is estimated that contract offers will be made the last week in June. Orders will be placed on an as needed basis upon award. A commercial item request for quotation will be issued on or about May 24, 1999. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered. Proposals will be due by 4 p.m. June 14, 1999. This is a negotiated procurement; there will be no public bid opening.
