TACOM-ARDEC IS CONTEMPLATING AN AWARD OF A FIRM, FIXED PRICED CONTRACT
FOR THE ROUGH MACHINED LINER FORGINGS FOR THE CRUSADER CANNON. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL MANUFACTURE TEN (10) HIGH-STRENGTH ALLOY STEEL LINER
FORGINGS (DWG. # WTV-F40518 REV A.) FOR MILITARY AND PRESSURE
APPLICATIONS ACCORDING TO AMSTA A 723/A723M-94 STANDARD SPECIFICATION.
GRADES 1 OR 2 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION (WITH EXCEPTIONS NOTED ON DRAWING)
AND CLASS 4 TENSILE AND CHARPY V-NOTCH IMPACT REQUIREMENTS (WITH
EXCEPTIONS NOTED ON DRAWING) SHALL APPLY. THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS
SHALL INCLUDE ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE MELTING AND VACUUM DEGASSING, HOT
FORGING, MACHINING AND HEAT-TREATING (INCLUDING NORMALIZING,
REAUSTENITIZATION, LIQUID QUENCHING AND TEMPERING) FOR MECHANICAL
PROPERTIES. ADDITIONALLY, NONDESTRUCTIVE EXAMINATION BY ULTRASONIC AND
MAGNETIC PARTICLE SHALL BE REQUIRED. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH CLAUSE DFARS 252.204.7004 CENTRAL CONTRACTOR
REGISTRATION WHICH CAN BE DOWNLOADED AT
